Civil forfeiture: 19.7 million may be confiscated from a Kyiv City Council deputy based on NACP materials

Prosecutors from the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), based on the results of monitoring the lifestyle of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), materials from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and evidence obtained by the SAP,O filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) to recognise as unfounded and recover UAH 19.7 million from a member of the Kyiv City Council and his wife.

Between 2021 and 2022, the elected official and his wife acquired seven plots of land near Kyiv and built two houses with a total value of 9.7 million hryvnias. In addition, by selling two plots of land and two houses at prices higher than their acquisition cost, the couple received income of 10 million hryvnias.

After analysing the couple's income and expenses, the NACP found that they did not have sufficient funds to acquire the specified assets legally.

The assets may be confiscated to the state by decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court in accordance with Article 290 of the Civil Code of Ukraine.
