All-Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Moot Court 3.0: Law Students improved their anti-corruption skills
The collective team of students from Ivan Franko National University and Ukrainian Catholic University, named "RONAVI," won in the All-Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Moot Court, organized for the third time with the participation of NACP, NABU, SAPO, HACC, UCU, along with the European Union Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI) and UNDP. This year's event was dedicated to Yulia Shevchenko, an NACP employee and moot court judge in 2021, who had lost her life defending Ukraine against the aggressor. Over three days, participants engaged in training sessions conducted by NABU detectives on conducting searches involving the application of criminal and criminal procedural law. They also took part as plaintiffs and defendants in training sessions on court hearings related to the recognition of assets as unjustified, led by HACC judges and representatives of the NACP. “The institute of civil forfeiture is operational, even though it is one of the newest mechanisms in Ukrainian practice. It is designed to recover illegally obtained assets and income from them into the state budget. Thanks to its implementation in civil proceedings rather than criminal ones, it allows quick recovery, without waiting for years. Young lawyers learned from the experience of implementing this tool during these three days, and we congratulate the winning team. For the NACP, the Anti-Corruption Moot Court is about creating a common future, about people, joint processes, new ideas, and unconventional solutions”, noted Iaroslav Liubchenko, the Deputy Head of the NACP, who served as one of the judges in the competition. “This is not just a competition; it is the creation of a better society with the supremacy of law and justice. EUACI has supported the project from the very beginning, for the third year in a row. We highly appreciate doing this project together with our partners - anti-corruption bodies. It is very gratifying that they prioritize working with youth and provide their best experts - detectives, prosecutors, judges who share their knowledge and experience with young people,” said Allan Pagh Kristensen, Head of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI). Aditionally: The All-Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Moot Court is organized by NACP, NABU, SAPO, HACC, UCU with the support of UNDP in Ukraine within the EU4 Recovery project funded by the EU and with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), the leading anti-corruption program in Ukraine funded by the EU and co-financed and implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. You can find courses on various topics that will be useful for students, anti-corruption commissioners, and anyone willing to deepen their knowledge in public service and anti-corruption tools on the Study NAZK Platform.
