Based on NACP materials, Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) files lawsuit to seize unjustified assets from National Police official for almost UAH 4.5 million

26.07.2024

The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), while monitoring the lifestyle of a chief of the Department for Combating Drug Crimes of the National Police of Ukraine, found signs of acquisition of unjustified assets worth almost UAH 4.5 million. This refers to property acquired by him and his wife in 2021-2023:

  • an apartment in Kyiv with an area of 73.4 m2;
  • 5 non-residential premises;
  • a 2013 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY car.

Thus, the monitoring revealed that the public servant and his wife purchased an apartment for more than UAH 3.6 million.

He also purchased two non-residential premises worth more than UAH 66 000, and his wife purchased three premises worth more than UAH 113 000.

In addition, at the end of 2023, she became the owner of a LAND ROVER DISCOVERY car for allegedly UAH 385 000, although the real value of such a vehicle is more than UAH 600 000.

In his explanations, the official claimed that before buying the apartment, he and his wife received UAH 1.8 million and USD 50 000 (equivalent to USD 1.5 million) as a gift from their parents. (equivalent to UAH 1.4 million). However, the NACP found that their income and savings did not allow them to make such gifts to their children.

It is worth mentioning that during 2021-2023, the expenses of the police officer and his wife exceeded their legal income, and the amount of cash assets increased by more than UAH 1 million.

Earlier, the National Agency sent materials regarding the police officer to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office to decide whether to file a lawsuit to recognize the assets as unjustified and seize them for the state in accordance with Article 290 of the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine.
