Based on the materials of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to declare assets worth almost UAH 5.9 million belonging to the head of one of the departments of the Central Interregional Department of the State Migration Service in Kyiv and Kyiv region unjustified and to recover them for the state.
According to Art. 290 of the Civil Code of Ukraine, assets may be confiscated to the state.
NACP found that the official's family members and relatives acquired two apartments (in Kyiv and Kharkiv) and 3 cars in 2019-2023. The materials collected during the monitoring of the official's lifestyle indicate that the property was purchased on behalf of an official of the State Migration Service.
In particular, the apartments were bought by his relatives and subsequently presented to the official's wife.
At the same time, his mother-in-law and father-in-law in 2023-2024 became owners of three expensive cars, the power of attorney for operation and disposal of which was subsequently granted to the official and his wife.
The analysis of income and expenses of the official's relatives shows that they are unable to buy the above movable and immovable property with funds obtained from legal sources.
The official, who has been working for the State Migration Service for more than 10 years, and his wife, who has no official income at all, also had no legal income to purchase the property.
As an interim measure, the court seized the assets in dispute and other assets of the defendants that correspond to their value.
