At the 10th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption, the Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) met with the World Bank Vice President for IntegrityMouhamadou Diagne and the Head of the Governance and Anti-Corruption Division at International Monetary Fund, Emmanuel Mathias. In particular, the NACP and the World Bank signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
"Ukraine has developed an Anti-Corruption Strategy and a step-by-step plan for its implementation - the State Anti-Corruption Program until 2025. The implementation of the measures envisaged by them at all levels is already yielding results. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has renewed the obligation for all officials to file electronic declarations, demonstrating full transparency despite the war. Ukraine is able to guarantee transparency and accountability in the processes related to receiving aid now and during reconstruction. The signing of this memorandum is another evidence of trust in our country," said the Head of the NACP.
Mr. Novikov also told the World Bank Vice President about the possibility to track the progress of Ukraine's implementation of the State Anti-Corruption Program (SACP) using the Information System for Monitoring the Implementation of the State Anti-Corruption Policy, which is also available in English.
During the meeting with the IMF representative, Oleksandr Novikov spoke about Ukraine's recent achievements in the anti-corruption sphere. In particular, he spoke about the draft laws recently adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to expand the staff of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, strengthen the independence of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and increase the powers of the NACP.
"Ukraine is now demonstrating internal unity not only by fighting the enemy, but also by working to build a system of integrity, and thus the efficiency of the entire state," said the NACP head.
The IMF representative noted Ukraine's progress and emphasized the importance of ensuring the full independence of anti-corruption institutions in Ukraine.
