The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (SBI) has submitted to the court an indictment against an official of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) in Kyiv who failed to declare his wife's property worth almost UAH 13 million for several years.
The investigation was based on materials collected by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) during the monitoring of the official's lifestyle. He is charged under Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for "Declaring false information". The sanction of the article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for up to two years.
In particular, the NACP found that the official failed to declare his wife's real estate worth almost UAH 12 million in the declaration submitted for the 2020 report period. This includes 4 non-residential premises, 4 parking spaces, 4 apartments, a residential building, and a land plot located in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
In his 2021 declaration, he also failed to indicate an apartment worth more than UAH 800,000 purchased by his wife in the same year. Thus, the total amount of false information in the declaration amounted to almost UAH 13 million.
