The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has completed monitoring the lifestyle of the former head of the special emergency rescue unit of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region. Almost UAH 13 million in unjustified assets were identified.
NACP analysed the income and expenses of the former State Emergency Service official and his wife and found that they could not have acquired the assets through legal means. These include:
- three premium cars, some of which were purchased during the war, with a total value of over UAH 7.2 million;
- UAH 5.4 million.
The State Bureau of Investigations has launched criminal proceedings in connection with the findings under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal enrichment). The article provides for up to 10 years' imprisonment.
The proceedings are being conducted by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Note: In accordance with Part 1 of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of any criminal offence and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
