The High Anti-Corruption Court has ruled to recover UAH 7.8 million worth of unjustified assets from a patrol policeman of the Kharkiv District Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Kharkiv Region.
The decision was based on a lawsuit filed by the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NACP) and the State Bureau of Investigation.
Based on the results of lifestyle monitoring, NAPC found that the law enforcement officer and his wife owned a 2018 Lexus LX 450 worth UAH 3.7 million and an apartment in Kharkiv worth UAH 5.8 million.
An analysis of the couple's legal income and savings shows that they were not able to accumulate such assets.
The SAPO prosecutors filed a lawsuit to recognise the assets as unjustified in February 2025, just two months ago. This case proves that the civil forfeiture tool works effectively and allows for a faster seizure of property from an official and dismissal from office, which helps to cleanse the government of dishonest individuals. Assets are confiscated in accordance with Article 290 of the Civil Code of Ukraine.
