Prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), based on the materials of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) to recognize as unjustified assets worth almost UAH 8.7 million belonging to an official of the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv.
The assets in question are a 220-square-meter apartment in Kyiv and two parking spaces purchased by the official's mother-in-law, as well as the proceeds from the sale of the apartment.
NACP analyzed the income and expenditures of the official's family and relatives and found that it was impossible to acquire the property at the expense of legitimate income.
NACP began monitoring the official's lifestyle based on its own findings. Subsequently, the official also came to the attention of journalists of the program “Schemes: Corruption in Detail”. After their story came out, the official's mother-in-law sold the apartment. Therefore, the SAPO prosecutor also filed a lawsuit to recover the proceeds from the sale of the apartment.
