From now on, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) will carry out financial control measures in relation to special categories of declarants (employees of intelligence agencies and persons holding positions related to state secrets).
The decision to create an independent unit, the Department for Financial Control of Certain Categories of Persons, was made in response to the recommendations of the external independent assessment of the NACP's activities.
This should increase the effectiveness of financial control in relation to special categories of declarants (persons defined in Article 52-1 of the Law of Ukraine “On Prevention of Corruption”). This includes lifestyle monitoring, full verification of declarations and control over the timeliness of their submission.
Therefore, the NACP's internal control unit, which previously performed these functions, will focus on tasks to ensure the integrity of the Agency's employees and other functions provided for by law.
In addition, in accordance with the recommendations of the external independent audit, the NACP has separated the functions of internal control and corruption prevention within the Agency.
For this purpose, a separate sector for corruption prevention was created within the NACP. The sector will organize work on assessing corruption risks in the Agency's activities and preparing measures to eliminate them, and will coordinate the implementation of the NACP's anti-corruption program.
