Representatives of the World Bank expressed their readiness to support the priority areas of work of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP). In particular, they are in favor of effective implementation of the State Anti-Corruption Program (SACP) by all authorities of Ukraine, restoration of mandatory electronic declaration of officials and financial reporting of political parties.
"Now the whole world is watching Ukraine's actions not only at the front, but also on the battlefield against corruption. Our state is interested in getting rid of corruption, because the development of the security and defense spheres, as well as the efficiency and transparency of the processes related to reconstruction, depend on this. The anti-corruption strategy and the program for its implementation have already been approved - these are important systematic steps on this path. The next challenge is the effective implementation of these documents. The NACP is already at the final stage of developing a special platform with which everyone will be able to follow in real time the implementation of SACP measures by the authorities", - emphasized the Head of the NACP Oleksandr Novikov during a meeting with Mouhamadou Diagne, Vice President for Integrity (INT) in World Bank Group and with World Bank Audit Vice President Anke D'Angelo.
The Head of the NACP also held meetings with the head of the compliance department, Alexandra Haberson, and the head of the investigations department, David Hawkes, and expressed the readiness of the NACP to adopt the best practices from the experts of the World Bank.
"The NACP is waiting for the decision of the Parliament of Ukraine regarding the restoration of mandatory electronic declaration of officials and financial reporting of political parties. This is the foundation of corruption prevention and a real tool for checking the integrity of officials and parties. The restoration of the declaration is a key requirement of the International Monetary Fund to Ukraine within the framework of granting a loan, as well as the first recommendation of the G7 countries to our country", - Oleksandr Novikov noted.
Representatives of the World Bank stated the need to ensure the independence of anti-corruption bodies in Ukraine, and also once again expressed clear support for Ukraine in anti-corruption activities.
