
Oleksandr Novikov, the Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention, who is participating in the 9th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption taking place in Egypt this week, has held a working meeting with the Agency for Prevention of Corruption of Serbia and the Conflict of Interest Commission of Croatia.
Ukrainian priorities during the Conference have been targeted on the discussion of the automation of work processes and the development of effective anti-corruption IT solutions used globally.
The Head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Anti-Corruption Policy, Anastasiia Radina, also attended the meeting.
Therefore, the registers of asset e-declaration of public officials functioning in other countries and the digitized control of political finances have become a focus of the meeting.
The NACP’s experts also presented the “Hidden Interests” portal, an advanced tool launched recently to detect the potential conflict of interest.
Another issue discussed during the meeting was the exchange of information between different jurisdictions in order to establish a conflict of interest. The Conflict of Interest Commission of Croatia explained which procedures they used to obtain information.
The Agency for Prevention of Corruption of Serbia shared their experience on developing and implementing the Law on Lobbying and the functioning of the Register of Lobbyists. In particular, the Serbian delegation described the process of the regulation on lobbyism and the challenges they face now.
“Corruption is a global problem. And we can deal with it effectively only by constantly working together and learning best practices from each other. Ukraine, Serbia, and Croatia today have really advanced examples of the development of anti-corruption IT tools, and we also have something to share with the world", - the Head of the NACP commented on the meeting.
The parties agreed to continue the exchange of positive practices and to ensure the organization of appropriate training visits.
