NACP adds manufacturers and suppliers of diamond equipment to the list of candidates for sanctions

The NACP has added six Russian companies that manufacture and supply equipment for diamond mining and processing to the list of candidates for sanctions:

Burevestnik JSC EC is one of the world's largest manufacturers of X-ray fluorescent separators for the diamond industry. It develops and manufactures specialized equipment for Alrosa. In the first half of 2023, the company imported goods worth more than USD 500 thousand. The company's products are also used at diamond mining enterprises in Russia, Angola, South Africa, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe.
Svetlana-Rentgen JSC specializes in the development and production of X-ray tubes used in the diamond mining industry. At the beginning of 2022, Burevestnik EC JSC exported the company's products in the equivalent of more than USD 60 thousand to South Africa in the interests of its affiliate, BVSA (PTY) LTD. In the first half of 2023, the company exported goods from the Russian Federation totaling more than USD 4.3 million. Also, during the same period, the company imported goods worth more than USD 80 thousand.
Drilling Equipment Plant JSC has developed a unique explosion-proof underground drilling rig, ZBO U7ex, for the benefit of AK Alrosa, which is designed for drilling drainage, exploration, and technical wells. In the first half of 2023, the company imported goods worth more than $850 thousand to the Russian Federation.
OJSC Viogem is one of the largest integrated specialized institutes in the mining industry in the CIS. The company has developed the UBD-8 universal drilling rig, designed for underground and surface drilling of various types of wells, which is used by mining companies, including Alrosa.
Kristall PA specializes in diamond cutting. The company is one of the largest diamond producers in Russia. In the first half of 2023, the company imported goods, including diamond processing equipment and components, totaling more than USD 600 thousand.
Electrometry Design Bureau LLC is engaged in the development and production of geophysical equipment. In early 2022, it supplied soil resistivity meters to Alrosa (Zimbabwe) Limited.

These are the companies that manufacture new equipment for mining, processing, and sorting diamonds that can significantly improve these processes' efficiency and productivity, as well as reduce costs. Since these companies are not under sanctions imposed by Ukraine and the countries of the sanctions coalition, they are still free to import equipment and other necessary components from other countries, such as China, the United States, Israel, Belgium, India, etc. The imposition of sanctions by Ukraine should be the first step towards sanctioning these companies by their partners and stopping trade. The NACP has already sent proposals to the Security Service of Ukraine to impose sanctions against the new list of Russian «diamond» companies.
