Prosecutors of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), based on lifestyle monitoring by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and evidence obtained independently, filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) to declare the assets of a deputy head of a department of the State Tax Service in Sumy region unjustified.
The assets may be recovered in favour of the state by a decision of the HACC in accordance with Article 290 of the Civil Code of Ukraine.
The car in question is a Lexus RX 350 worth UAH 3.1 million, which is registered in the name of his close friend's wife. However, the official's wife is actually in charge of it. In addition, the law enforcement officer owns four properties (three apartments and one parking space) with a total value of UAH 3.9 million. They are registered in the name of his mother-in-law.
However, the analysis of legitimate income and savings shows that neither the official, his wife and mother-in-law, nor the family of a close friend could have purchased the expensive car and real estate with legitimate income.
