The prosecutor of the Brovary District Prosecutor’s Office has sent an indictment to the court against a deputy of the Zazymia Village Council of Brovary district, Kyiv region, who also holds the position of land management specialist in the same council.
The official is accused of committing a criminal offense under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal Enrichment).
During the pre-trial investigation, the conclusions of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) regarding the official’s illegal enrichment were confirmed. In particular, it was established that the declarant’s close associates, acting on his instructions, acquired unjustified assets totaling nearly UAH 29.8 million.
If the deputy is found guilty, he faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years, along with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
Note: according to Part One of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court’s guilty verdict.
