The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) to recognize as unfounded and confiscate as state revenue (civil forfeiture) the assets used by the senior inspector of the customs clearance department of the Pivdennyi Port customs post of the Odesa Customs.
The lawsuit was based on the results of monitoring the official's lifestyle, which was carried out by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), as well as evidence obtained independently by the SAPO prosecutor.
During the monitoring, the NACP established that in 2023, the customs officer purchased a “VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG” car for more than UAH 2.7 million. He registered the vehicle in his father's name but continued to use it himself.
The agency analysed the income and expenses of the official and his family members and concluded that it was impossible to purchase the vehicle with legal income. The car was seized.
The assets may be confiscated in favour of the state in accordance with Article 290 of the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine.
We would like to remind you that, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine ‘On Prevention of Corruption’, a person authorized to perform functions of the state or local self-government, in respect of whom a court decision on the recognition of assets as unjustified and their confiscation in favour of the state has entered into legal force, shall be dismissed from office in accordance with the procedure established by law.
