The Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), Viktor Pavlushchyk, took part in a high-level meeting of the heads of anti-corruption agencies of the Baltic States, which took place this week in Lithuania.
The participants discussed how to strengthen the influence of the Baltic States through active involvement in the work of the European Partners Against Corruption Network (EPAC/EACN) and the Assembly of Anti-Corruption Authorities of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). They also drew attention to the importance of the Baltic States' sustained support for Ukraine in overcoming the negative impact of Russia's war against Ukraine.
In his speech, Victor Pavlushchyk outlined the key achievements of the NACP in the field of corruption prevention and the challenges faced by the Agency in implementing anti-corruption policy and the need to adapt legislation to European integration requirements.
"For the NACP, the priorities of international cooperation remain strengthening institutional capacity, implementing the recommendations of the external assessment, implementing the state anti-corruption policy, developing financial control and anti-corruption analytics, implementing the provisions of the Roadmap for European Integration, and expanding IT tools. I am convinced that by working together we will be able not only to overcome temporary difficulties, but also to develop an effective anti-corruption infrastructure capable of withstanding modern challenges,' said Viktor Pavlushchyk.
According to him, it is also important to exchange experience on issues related to the competence and training of the Agency's employees, including the identification of unjustified assets, OSINT, strategic risk analysis, etc.
The event was attended by senior officials and experts from such anti-corruption agencies as:
- Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (STT);
- Estonian Internal Security Service (KAPO);
- The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau of Latvia (KNAB);
- Estonian Police and Border Guard Board (PBGB);
- Central Anti-Corruption Bureau of Poland (CBA);
- National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).
The Baltic High Level Meeting of Heads of Anti-Corruption Authorities is an annual event aimed at strengthening international cooperation and sharing experiences in the fight against corruption through discussions on the latest strategic developments, challenges and achievements of anti-corruption agencies, as well as the exchange of best practices.
In November 2024, the NACP became a member of EPAC/EACN, a network of European anti-corruption organisations and police oversight bodies from the Council of Europe member states.
