Progress in fighting and preventing corruption is crucial for Ukraine's development as a democratic country and future EU member. Ukraine has made significant strides over the last decade, reaching a CPI score of 36 in 2023. This progress is the result of anti-corruption measures to improve the integrity, transparency and efficiency of public administration.
Recognising and openly discussing both improvements and difficulties in the fight against corruption is the only way for Ukraine to effectively implement further reforms and build trust with our international partners.
However, presenting an objective view can be challenging, particularly to the audience abroad. Some international media tend to misrepresent Ukraine's progress, focusing on corruption scandals and ignoring the bigger picture. Russia also runs disinformation campaigns instrumentalizing corruption to undermine support for Ukraine abroad.
To fill the gaps in this discussion, we started collecting the most important updates on a weekly basis: reforms, investigations, top news from anti-corruption bodies, surveys and reports, etc. Namely, we report on measures and tools in the fields of rule of law, public investments and procurement, accountability of civil servants as well as digitalization of public services to prevent misconduct and make the public services more efficient. Special attention is paid to alignment of Ukrainian legislation to the EU acquis in the respective areas and accountability of international aid.
To present different perspectives, we include news from Ukrainian government bodies, including those operating in the field of anti-corruption, NGOs, activists, investigative journalists, think tanks and international media.
