NACP recognized the best practices of anti-corruption communication of state institutions

26.07.2024

The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has recognized the best practices of communication on anti-corruption activities and building integrity in the public sphere among public authorities and organizations implementing the State Anti-Corruption Program for 2023-2025 (SACP) and Communication Strategy for Preventing and Combating Corruption until 2025 (Communication Strategy) .

Proactive communications by government agencies include campaigns to promote the institution of whistleblowing (implemented by the State Border Guard Service), implement anti-corruption practices in public procurement and healthcare services (National Health Service of Ukraine), promote integrity in the public sphere (National Agency for Civil Service), and introduce integrity and ethical behavior among employees (Ministry of Internal Affairs).

The awards were presented to the representatives of these agencies by NACP Head Viktor Pavlushchyk during the third coordination meeting of public communications specialists organized by the National Agency as part of the implementation of the SAP and the Strategy.

“Our common goal is to change the perception of the country as totally corrupt in the minds of Ukrainians by building trust in government agencies. Consolidation and coordination of efforts in communicating the state's anti-corruption practices and promoting integrity are extremely important in fulfilling these tasks,” NACP Head emphasized.

The meeting was gathered with over 100 representatives of government agencies, NGOs, and international projects. The participants discussed the results of anti-corruption communications for the second quarter of 2024, shared the experience of the most successful cases, and focused on improving the interaction between the authorities and the media. The results of a study on media coverage of corruption in the second quarter of 2024 were also presented.

The speakers were Natalia Goncharova- NACP expert, Angelina Karyakina- Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Public Broadcasting, Uliana Kolodiy- CEO and founder of the UK comms communication agency and the UK comms club, Sabina Ablyaeva- Director of the Information Policy and Strategic Communications Department of Ukrzaliznytsia, Olena Konoplia- Head of NACP Communications and Information Policy Department, and Serhiy Stukanov- Head of the Analytical Department of the Content Analysis Center.

The previous coordination event on statewide anti-corruption communication, among other things, presented the results of a number of studies that serve as the analytical and sociological basis for the Strategy's implementation.

The event was supported by the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI).
