The NACP plans to improve the register of reports of political parties POLITDATA and increase the level of digitization in the country
Ukraine continues to digitize state processes, confidently moving towards world leadership in this field. That is why the NACP already has a number of IT tools, such as the largest Register of declarations in the world and the Register of reporting of political parties, which is regularly updated and has no analogues. Digitization is a priority in the work of the Agency, which is why we must create new, effective tools to prevent corruption and improve existing ones. This was stated by the Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) Oleksandr Novikov during a meeting with the President and CEO of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Anthony Banbury and other IFES representatives. "Despite the fact that political parties have not been required to submit financial reports for three years, first due to COVID-19, and then due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, NACP still strives to improve this process. The POLITDATA portal, thanks to its innovation and inclusiveness, made it possible to reduce the burden on party representatives and ensure the openness of financial reporting data of political parties to the public. We are already sharing our experience with other countries that want to create a similar tool, and we can make it even better. NACP already has developments that will allow to bring the transparency of reporting of political parties to a new level", - emphasized the Head of the NACP. The register already includes information on 136 political parties and 3,480 regional offices. In particular, the Register carries out automatic reconciliation with 18 state registers and databases. "We focus on digitalization, because it is one of the areas of the Anti-Corruption Strategy adopted by the parliament and the Program (SACP) for its implementation approved by the government, which includes the implementation and modernization of 63 digital products to increase transparency and open data as a basis for minimizing corruption risks in the activities of authorities. Digitization will also affect the transparency of the political system in Ukraine through the restoration of financial reporting of political parties. Without this, it is impossible to build a democratic state, just as it is impossible to check whether Russia finances certain political parties in Ukraine. This is critically important in wartime conditions. We hope that the parliament will come close to solving this issue in the near future, as this is not only an indicator of public trust, but also of the trust of our international partners", - Oleksandr Novikov added. IFES President and CEO Anthony Banbury noted Ukraine's progress in the transparency of political party reporting after the creation of the POLITDATA registry and emphasized the importance of restoring reporting. "Even before the full-scale war, the NACP made significant progress in the transparency of party reporting thanks to the POLITDATA electronic register. Now, I am impressed by the coordinated work of NACP and its leadership under martial law conditions, as well as the future plans of NACP to transform the fight against corruption through digitalization", -  said Anthony Banbury. The NACP and IFES agreed to further strengthen cooperation in the field of transparency of political finance reporting, digitization of anti-corruption processes, as well as in the direction of enlightenment as the main tool for building integrity and democracy.
