The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) presented the "Handbook on Building an Integrity Organization", which is intended to become a tool for establishing an ethical business environment in Ukraine.
The event was attended by Deputy Head of the NACP Iaroslav Liubchenko, experts from the Agency's Public and Private Integrity Policy Department, representatives of government agencies, business associations and the public.
"Prevention of corruption in the country is ensured through interaction between government agencies, business and the public sector. Such interaction has created new projects that have minimized corrupt practices in entire sectors, including Prozorro, Prozorro.Sale, Medical Procurement and the State Logistics Operator, among others. Ukraine is focused on developing integrity in the private sector through the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Strategy and its implementation program for 2023-2025. The priority is to create modern anti-corruption tools and implement sectoral reforms to prevent corruption. One of these publicly available tools for building anti-corruption compliance and integrity for business is the "Handbook for Building an Integrity Organization" developed by the NACP. Its implementation is an important step towards increasing business competitiveness," said Iaroslav Liubchenko, Deputy Head of the NACP.
The book contains methodological documents and anti-corruption standards for improving integrity in the private sector, as well as practical recommendations to help companies implement integrity principles in their daily activities. This includes the distribution of functions, rights and responsibilities in the organization, recommendations for managing corruption risks, development of internal documents on corruption prevention, awareness raising and training, as well as a system for reporting and reviewing violations.
"The handbook focuses on practical basic recommendations aimed at minimizing corruption risks within the organization, in cooperation with partners and public authorities," said Oleksandr Vasylchuk, one of the book's developers, Head of the Private Sector Integrity Policy Development Department.
The book can be used by managers as a basis for training and consultations, promoting the introduction of a culture of integrity in the business environment. In doing so, organizations can choose elements to implement according to their specifics and activities.
Speakers at the book presentation were Kateryna Penkova, Policy Analyst, Ukraine Division, Directorate for Global Affairs and Cooperation, OECD, Oleksandr Palazov, Director of the Department of Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, and Andriy Remizov, Director of the State Institution "Office for Entrepreneurship and Export Development".
