The Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), Oleksandr Novikov, spoke at the 10th session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Atlanta, United States. He called on participating states to unite efforts in building a global integrity system to ensure shared security.
"Corruption penetrates the very heart of governments, undermines institutions meant to protect society, and erodes the foundations on which democracy stands. Today, I want to emphasize the inseparable connection between corruption and these urgent problems that require our immediate attention. Integrity, characterized by unwavering commitment to ethical values and consistent prioritization of public interests over private gains in the public sector, is the foundation on which resilient and just societies are built," stated the Head of the NACP.
The main goal of the conference is to bring together representatives from 193 member countries to exchange experiences and best practices in combating corruption and building integrity policies worldwide.
"Corruption contributes to wars, poverty, and violations of fundamental rights and freedoms. Ukraine is currently one of the leaders in building integrity because we understand like no one else how corruption and protecting one's state from the enemy are incompatible. Integrity equals efficiency, and efficiency equals security," added Novikov.
After his speech, the head of the NACP shared Ukraine's experience in building an effective anti-corruption system with representatives from other UN member states. He discussed the establishment of anti-corruption bodies and the development and implementation of an Anti-Corruption Strategy and a step-by-step program for its execution. Additionally, he presented "Guide for Top-Managers," based on the best practices of the NACP, to the international partners.
The delegation of Ukraine, led by Chairman Oleksandr Novikov, continues its visit to the United States within the framework of the 10th session of the Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption. The conference will run from December 11 to 15. On December 13, Ukraine will host a separate event, "Ukraine Integrity Ecosystem: War and Post-War Recovery," where the country will showcase its best practices and tools in the fight against corruption and the establishment of an integrity system.
