The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has found signs of declaring false information in the declaration of a Member of Parliament of Ukraine for more than UAH 5.8 million. These facts were established based on the results of a full audit of his declaration for 2021.
He failed to disclose information about an existing financial obligation that arose as a result of the conclusion of a contract for the sale and purchase of corporate rights for UAH 4.8 million, as well as a one-time expenditure of UAH 500 thousand as payment for accommodation in a hotel apartment in the Maldives.
In addition, discrepancies were found between the amounts of actual one-time expenses made to repay his existing obligations in the amount of more than UAH 400 thousand.
Based on the results of the audit, the NACP drew up a substantiated conclusion under Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code (entering knowingly false information in the declaration).
Following the review of the substantiated conclusion, the Prosecutor General initiated criminal proceedings. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
As a reminder, in the first half of 2024, the NACP completed 206 inspections under the new risk-based approach. The NACP found inaccurate information worth almost UAH 664 million, unjustified assets worth UAH 14.4 million, and signs of illicit enrichment worth UAH 38.3 million. The NABU submitted 84 substantiated conclusions to the competent authorities and 4 materials to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
