Cherkasy Сity Council Member to stand trial for false asset declaration exceeding UAH 9.7 Million

13.03.2026

The Prosecutor General's Office and the Main Investigative Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine have submitted an indictment to the court against a member of the Cherkasy City Council. This follows a full asset declaration audit conducted by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP). The official is charged with intentionally submitting false information in his declaration (Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

During the audit of the 2023 declaration, the NACP determined that the declarant provided false information regarding cash assets held by him and his wife, totalling UAH 9.7 million (including cash on hand). These funds were actually spent during the reporting period on the acquisition of the following vehicles:

  • A 2023 BMW X6, valued at over USD 123 thousand;
  • A 2021 Mercedes-Benz S350D, valued at over USD 100 thousand;
  • A 2022 BMW M3, with a market value of over USD 100 thousand, whose documentation stated that the declarant's wife purchased it for UAH 10 thousand.

Furthermore, the official declared inaccurate information regarding his bank account balances, understating them by nearly UAH 300 thousand.
