Civil forfeiture: UAH 4.6 million and car confiscated from MIA official based on NACP materials

21.02.2025

On February 20, 2025, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) upheld the claim of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) filed on the basis of the materials of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and found the assets found in the possession of the head of the territorial service center of the regional service center of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Dnipropetrovsk region to be unjustified. The assets were recovered to the state.

These are a 2023 Škoda Kodiaq car worth over UAH 2 million and UAH 4.6 million in cash. The latter was found at the official's place of residence and in the car he uses.

During the lifestyle monitoring, NACP found that the son of the head of the territorial service center purchased the car on behalf of his father. However, neither the official nor the persons who allegedly borrowed the money found during the searches had enough money from legal sources to purchase it.

The court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and dismissed the defendant's appeal. The decision of the HACC Appeals Chamber comes into force upon its announcement.
