Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) Oleksandr Novikov, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Vice President of Banking, Alain Pilloux, and the newly-elected Vice President for Policy and Partnerships at the EBRD, Mark Bowman held a working meeting within the EBRD’s leadership official visit to Ukraine.
At the talk, the two sides paid attention to the draft Anti-corruption Strategy for 2021–2025 that awaits the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the second reading and its main priorities, the main obstacles the anti-corruption bodies face, and their role in guaranteeing the fair game rules in the system.
Oleksandr Novikov stated that the NACP is an organization whose functions are to implement the best integrity practices of corporate management and create a good investment climate for business in Ukraine.
Alain Pilloux highlighted the importance of the meeting, stating that the NACP and the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) are "the key components of the anti-corruption architecture of the country because two bodies have a lot of impact on the economy". He also underlined that the visit to NACP is "the expression of full support".
Alain Pilloux was informed about the steps being taken by the NACP to fight the corruption in Ukraine and the process of verification of declaration.
Both sides discussed the perspective of the implementation of the anti-corruption policy, and mutual interest was expressed in further cooperation.
