The panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) upheld the claim of the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) to recognize UAH 3.3 million worth of assets as unjustified and to recover them in favor of the state (civil forfeiture). The assets formally belong to the official's wife, but are actually used by the head of a department of the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv.
The decision was made, in particular, based on the results of lifestyle monitoring conducted by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP).
It was found that in 2021-2022, the official's close relatives purchased an apartment in Kyiv and a 2016 Volkswagen Touareg without having any legal income.
The court decision can be appealed within 30 days from the date of its full text.
The reason for monitoring the official's lifestyle was the information of the head of the Anti-Corruption Center MEZHA, published on the Ukrainska Pravda website, which contains information about the value of an apartment in a high-rise building in Kyiv, which is only UAH 15 thousand, and a car, which is UAH 3 thousand, in his declaration for 2022.
