On January 24, the External Assessment Commission of the Performance of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) began its work. Such an assessment is provided by the Law of Ukraine «On Corruption Prevention».
The NACP will become the first authority in Ukraine to conduct such an independent evaluation by international experts.
For the Agency, such an audit is an opportunity to obtain an independent evaluation of its work and implement new international practices in its activities.
Why will the assessment take place in early 2022?
The term of Head of the NACP in the office is four years. Accordingly, an audit of the Head’s work of the NACP is conducted in the middle of this period — after two years in office — and at the end of his term.
On January 15, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed Oleksandr Novikov as a Head of the NACP. Accordingly, January 15, 2022, marks the two-year term of him being in the office. That is why the assessment begins this January.
Which experts will audit the work of the NACP and how were they selected?
International experts were appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine based on proposals from donors who provided international technical assistance to Ukraine in the field of preventing and combating corruption during the last two years before the evaluation.
The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed the following experts to conduct an independent evaluation of the NACP:
