The inaugural conference of the Strategic Review of Ukraine's Defense Procurement System hosted by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) took place in Luxembourg. This is one of the leading projects of NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine, aimed at helping our country reform its defense procurement system to align it with NATO standards.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, the National Institute for Strategic Studies and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

At the conference, the NACP was represented by Marta Ivashkiv, Head of the Department for Implementation of International Security and Defense Standards of the Security and Defense Integrity Policy Development Office. She took part in the first constituent meeting of the working group. This working group, together with experts from Ukraine and NATO member states, will develop recommendations to improve Ukraine's defense procurement system, which should be approved at the Washington Summit in July 2024.

The Alliance was represented by Stacy A. Cummings, General Manager of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency, and Thomas Goffus, Assistant Secretary General for Operations.

"The Strategic Defense Procurement Review will be the main tool for improving the reforms already launched by Ukraine and will provide an opportunity to learn from the experience and implement the best practices of NATO member states in this area," said Marta Ivashkiv.

More information about the event is available on the Alliance's official portal.
