In Mexico, as part of International Anti-Corruption Day, the forum "Access to Information and Integrity as Tools to Combat Corruption in the Digital Era" took place. Deputy Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), Artem Sytnyk, participated in the discussion on behalf of Ukraine.

He highlighted key aspects of the NACP`s activities and the strategies the agency follows, emphasizing the role of integrity in society and government and stating that its formation begins with setting a personal example. Therefore, the entire NACP work system is based on principles of integrity.

Artem Sytnyk informed foreign colleagues that the development of Ukraine's anti-corruption system began during the Revolution of Dignity in 2014, when Ukrainians chose a democratic path of development and identified the fight against corruption as a strategic direction. He highlighted the effectiveness of Ukraine's anti-corruption institutions, the development of which continues, including through the platform of The Network for Integrity. He discussed the digital transformation undertaken by NACP, which aimed at increasing transparency and using data as a tool to minimize corruption risks.

The NACP actively uses an electronic declaration registry to ensure transparency and citizens' trust in the state. It is worth noting that the storage and processing of personal information comply with all requirements for the protection of personal data. The NACP plays an important role in building integrity in Ukraine through digital transformation, strengthening the role of ethics in the Ukrainian public sector, and fostering quality interaction with the public.

Artem Sytnyk also held a meeting in Mexico with the head of the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information, and Personal Data Protection in Mexico, Blanca Lilia Ibarra Cadena. They discussed coordinating actions in searching for unjustified assets of officials abroad, information exchange in this field, and the overall exchange of best practices.

Note: The United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) was opened for signature in December 2003 in Merida, Mexico. Ukraine ratified this agreement on October 18, 2006. Currently, over 140 countries have ratified the convention. The Convention is the only legally binding international anti-corruption multilateral treaty and recognizes the importance of both preventive and punitive measures. The aim of UNCAC is to reduce various forms of corruption, such as influence trading and abuse of power, as well as corruption in the private sector, including embezzlement and money laundering. Another goal of UNCAC is to strengthen international law enforcement and judicial cooperation between countries by providing effective legal mechanisms for the international return of assets. Countries that have ratified the Convention cooperate in criminal matters.
