The Supreme Court upheld the legality of the decisions of the lower courts regarding the confiscation of a car worth over UAH 5.6 million, which was used by the former head of the Migration Control Department of the State Migration Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region.
Based on the materials of a full audit of the declaration by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), materials from the National Police of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) and evidence obtained by the prosecutor of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) in conjunction with detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), it was confirmed that in 2023, the former official's mother purchased a Mercedes Benz G400 D car without having sufficient legal income or a driver's licence. At the same time, it was established that the car was actually used by the official and his close relatives.
In December 2024, a panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the SAPO prosecutor's claim to recognise this asset as unjustified and to confiscate it as state revenue.
It should be recalled that at the end of May 2025, based on the materials of the NACP, the State Bureau of Investigation notified the official of suspicion of declaring inaccurate information worth over UAH 83 million.
Following a full audit of the 2023 declaration, the NACP found that the official had concealed information about a residential building, the above-mentioned car, an office building, a recreation centre, shop premises, land plots, cryptocurrencies and cash.
