During a meeting with representatives of the American non-partisan organization The Renew Democracy Initiative (RDI), the Head of the NACP expressed his readiness to fulfill the requirements for the restoration and simplification of declarations, prescribed in the Memorandum of Ukraine with the IMF. The matter is with the Ukrainian Parliament.
"The independence of the NACP and other anti-corruption bodies is the only opportunity to overcome corruption, which is an indispensable prerequisite for the victory, effective recovery and further sustainable development of Ukraine", - said the Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) Oleksandr Novikov, expressing gratitude to the United States of America for aid that allowed Ukraine to restrain Russian aggression in the first months of the war, and now allows us to repel Russian troops from our territory.
According to the Head of the NACP, the approved Anti-Corruption Strategy and the State Anti-Corruption Program until 2025 are an indicator that the war did not stop Ukrainians' desire for reforms. It is a high-quality tool for the implementation of anti-corruption policy, the development of Ukraine as a European state, transparent post-war reconstruction and the formation of a society with integrity.
He drew attention to the fact that, although in the first days of the war, for security reasons, a decision was made to temporarily suspend electronic declaration and carry out full checks of declarations, the successes of our military at the front prove that Ukraine already has all the necessary conditions for the restoration of mandatory declaration .
"War creates additional corruption risks that need to be identified and overcome, so the strengthening of anti-corruption institutions becomes even more urgent than in peacetime. The restoration of declaration is one of the key tools for ensuring control and prevention of corruption when Ukraine receives international aid. The trust of our partners is important to us, which is why NACP has already declared its readiness to fulfill the requirements regarding the restoration and simplification of declarations, prescribed in the Memorandum with the IMF, published on March 31. We expect the same readiness from the Ukrainian Parliament", - noted Oleksandr Novikov.
In addition, the Head of the NACP emphasized the importance of restoring the reporting of political parties in Ukraine and expressed the hope that the relevant decision of the Verkhovna Rada will not be delayed either. Ukraine has a powerful Politdata reporting register of political parties and everything necessary to ensure the integrity of Ukraine's political system.
RDI President Heidi Heitkamp emphasized the importance of the independence of anti-corruption bodies and the effective fight against corruption, including in the framework of receiving international aid by Ukraine.
"This is the only way to guarantee the effective use of American taxpayers' funds, which go to humanitarian and military aid. The NACP has a powerful toolkit to prevent corruption, which should lead to the targeted use of aid by Ukraine, transparency and accountability of these processes", - said the head of the RDI.
