Based on the materials of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and information provided by the State Bureau of Investigation, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to declare unjustified and confiscate the assets of the head of one of the regional head offices of the State Tax Service.
According to the results of lifestyle monitoring, the NACP found signs that the tax officer acquired unjustified assets worth more than UAH 4.5 million in 2020-2023. These include:
- an apartment in Kyiv
- a Toyota C-HR Hybrid car, released in 2022;
- Land Rover Range Rover Velar, 2019.
The apartment was allegedly purchased by the official's sister, but an analysis of her official income and expenses proved that she was financially unable to make such a purchase.
The Toyota C-HR Hybrid automobile, which was allegedly purchased by the official's daughter with her savings and gifts from family members, could not have been purchased with funds from legal sources.
In addition, NACP found out that the Land Rover Range Rover Velar, which formally belongs to the official's father, was also purchased on her behalf.
The monitoring of the public servant's lifestyle also revealed that in 2016 her husband purchased an apartment in the center of Poltava for funds that were significantly higher than his official income.
Taking into account the facts revealed by the NACP, the SAPO filed a lawsuit to recognize the official's assets as unjustified and to recover them for the state (civil forfeiture).
A reminder. By part one of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proved by the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
