The goal of the NACP in the national security sector is the integrity of the defense forces so that Ukraine becomes a full member of NATO as soon as possible, — the Head of the NACP at the NATO School
"As a country we have clearly defined our goal — to become a member of the euroatlantic community community.  Our Armed Forces have already proven that we can do it. The goal of the NACP in the national security sector is the integrity of the defense forces, so that Ukraine becomes a member of the NATO as soon as possible," — said the Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) Oleksandr Novikov during a speech at the NATO Defense Leadership In Building Integrity Course (NATO BI) in NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany.  Among the participants of the meeting were anti-corruption experts, military, high-ranking officials of the Alliance, as well as representatives of the security agencies of Norway, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia and other countries.
The head of the NACP spoke about the work of the Agency in wartime conditions, experience in preventing corruption in Ukraine and presented the best practices of the NACP.
"The NACP forms the anti-corruption policy of Ukraine. We help develop the anti-corruption infrastructure by creating rules and policies while other bodies implement them.  For example, this year the Parliament of Ukraine adopted the Anti-Corruption Strategy until 2025, developed by us together with the public, which became an important step on the way to Ukraine's accession to the EU and the future recovery of the country after the war won. The implementation of this strategy will help Ukraine save up to UAH 200 billion ($5 billion) annually and overcome problems in those areas that suffer the most from corruption", — Oleksandr Novikov emphasized.
He added that with the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion to Ukraine, the NACP also began to perform the functions of an analytical body that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA) and other bodies, identifies persons who contribute to Russian aggression and may be subject to sanctions. In particular, together with the MFA, the NACP launched the "War & Sanctions" web portal- the main database on sanctions imposed due to Russia's attack on Ukraine (https://sanctions.nazk.gov.ua/en). The head of NACP also noted that Ukraine is one of the leaders in the world in digitalization of anti-corruption processes.
“Another issue I would like to mention is that Ukraine’s anti-corruption information technology solutions are shaping world practices. Ukraine is proud to be one of the countries which are rapidly advancing the use of IT tools and services in the public sector. Last year, Ukraine took the 6th position worldwide in the Open Data Maturity ranking, recognized as a trend-setter in data transparency. We ensured the advanced system of public officials’ assets disclosure. Ensuring the public knows the financial business of the people who want to lead them. It includes data on assets of more than 700,000 current and former public officials, managers of state-owned enterprises and politicians collected each year, including information on houses, cars, gifts and foreign bank accounts" —said the Head of the NACP.
Oleksandr Novikov thanked international partners for comprehensive assistance to Ukraine and called for further consolidation of forces in the fight against the aggressor.
“First of all, I would like to thank you all personally and your countries for providing strong support for Ukraine during these last 8 months. Yes, we are fighting for our freedom and democracy. But Ukraine is also fighting for our shared values of integrity, freedom, human rights and the rule of law.  Our future and the future of the entire democratic world depends on the weapons and humanitarian aid you send us.  Together we will win. Slava Ukraini!" —added Oleksandr Novikov.
