NACP and ARMA strengthen cooperation in tracing unjustified assets abroad

17.05.2024

The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) is expanding its ability to trace assets abroad, as this issue is critical for bringing to justice and, as a result, recovering such assets to the budget of Ukraine. This was emphasized by NACP Head Viktor Pavlushchyk during a working meeting with the leadership of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA).

“ARMA can strengthen the NACP's efforts to trace assets abroad in cases of unjustified assets as part of lifestyle monitoring and full verification of declarations. The scope of information exchange and other aspects of cooperation between the two anti-corruption agencies will be set out in a memorandum,” said Mr. Pavlushchyk.

The Head of the ARMA, Olena Duma, said that cooperation with the NACP should strengthen the work of the ARMA in tracing the assets of officials who, using their official position in senior positions in government agencies, embezzled state budget funds.

“We will do everything possible to ensure that, at the request of the NACP, we not only find the property transferred abroad and hidden, but also that it works for the state. For this purpose, we will use all possible tools that we have in different parts of the world,” emphasized Olena Duma.

The Head of ARMA also briefed the meeting participants on the initiated changes to the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine, the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, as well as initiatives to obtain clarifications from the Supreme Court Plenum on the application of the special law on ARMA in HACC decisions.
