The Uzhhorod District Prosecutor's Office, based on the materials of a full declaration audit conducted by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), has notified a sitting member of the Uzhhorod City Council of a suspicion of false declaration worth nearly 78 million UAH.
During the full audit, among other things, it was established that the council member failed to declare a hotel with an area of over 1,074 square meters on the outskirts of Uzhhorod, which he rented for business activities, and a restaurant with an area of over 242 square meters, where his wife conducted business. These facilities are part of a hotel and restaurant complex owned by the council member's mother.
In addition, the official declared over 108 million UAH in cash belonging to him and his wife. At the same time, during the audit, the official did not confirm the legal origin of 28.3 million UAH of the funds saved in the declared amount.
The council member is charged with intentionally entering knowingly false information into a declaration (Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pretrial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Uzhhorod District Police Department in the Zakarpattia Oblast, under the procedural guidance of the Uzhhorod District Prosecutor's Office.
Caution. According to Part 1 of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
