Based on the findings of a lifestyle monitoring conducted by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and information provided by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) granted the claim of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) to recover, for the benefit of the state, the proceeds from the sale of an unjustified asset belonging to the former Head of the South-Eastern Interregional Department for the Execution of Criminal Sentences of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
The asset in question is a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Vogue. HACC had previously recognised the vehicle as an unjustified asset, and this decision was later upheld by the Supreme Court.
During the lifestyle monitoring, the NACP established that the vehicle had been registered in the name of the official’s daughter but was in fact used by the official himself. An analysis of the income and expenditures of the official and his family members confirmed that they had no lawful sources of funds to purchase the vehicle.
In September 2024, the vehicle was sold for UAH 4.2 million. As the vehicle had already been disposed of by the time the claim was filed, SAPO also applied to HACC seeking the recovery, for the benefit of the state, of the proceeds from its sale. The Court granted the claim and ordered the defendants to pay UAH 909,600 to the state in equal shares, with UAH 454,800 to be recovered from each defendant.
