Civil forfeiture over UAH 5 million: cars and land plots may be confiscated from Kyiv region's village council deputy

04.04.2025

Prosecutors of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), based on lifestyle monitoring by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and with the assistance of the Brovary District Prosecutor's Office, filed a lawsuit to declare the assets of a deputy of one of the village councils of Brovary district, Kyiv region, unjustified.

The assets in question are a Volkswagen, ID 4, 2023, worth more than UAH 1 million, registered to his ex-wife, and a Jaguar XF, 2015, registered to his adult son. However, the MP actually disposes of them. In addition, 10 land plots registered in the names of the MP's mother-in-law, ex-wife and son may be recognised as unjustified assets. The total amount of unjustified assets is over UAH 5 million.

After analysing the income and savings of the MP, his ex-wife, son and mother-in-law, the NACP found that they could not have purchased cars and real estate with their legitimate income.

During the NACP's lifestyle monitoring, the MP's mother-in-law alienated a number of land plots in favour of close relatives. However, due to timely procedural measures taken by the SAPO, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) seized the property for further alienation.

Now, according to the decision of the HACC, the unjustified assets may be confiscated to the state.
