DP World, one of the world's largest port operators, added to the list of international war sponsors
The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has added one of the world's largest port operators, DP World (Dubai Port World), to the list of international sponsors of war. The reason for this decision was the fact that the United Arab Emirates company has not only not terminated business relations with russia, but even strengthened cooperation with the country-aggressor. In particular, last month, DP World signed an agreement with the russian state corporation Rosatom on the development of the Northern Sea Route. Recalling that Rosatom currently controls the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). DP World specializes in cargo logistics, port terminals, maritime services, and free trade zones. It handles 70 million containers brought in by about 70,000 ships annually and operates in more than 69 countries worldwide. After signing the agreement with Rosatom, russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the development of the Northern Sea Route is a strategic project that will bring an additional RUB 20 trillion (USD 224 billion) to the russian budget. Thus, the russian official directly confirms the benefit the terrorist state gets from cooperating with DP World. These additional funds will be used by russia, among other things, to finance the war against Ukraine. The ceremony of signing the agreement between the aggressor state and the Saudi company was attended by rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev and DP World Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem. According to the stated information, the length of the Northern Sea Route will be more than 5.6 thousand kilometers, from Murmansk to Vladivostok, along the coasts of the seas and the Arctic and Pacific Oceans. Strategic cooperation between Rosatom and DP World will facilitate the transit of goods to russia bypassing sanctions, given that Rosatom provides services to the russian military-industrial complex on a systematic basis, importing banned components for russian tanks and aircraft. In addition, other illegal cargo and weapons can be transported via the Northern Sea Route. DP World is also active in Ukraine. In 2020, the company acquired 51% of the TIS Container Terminal in the Pivdennyi Seaport, which gives it sufficient information about the state of the maritime transportation industry in Ukraine due to russia's aggression. In addition, DP World transships Ukrainian grain, as part of the grain corridor. The list of "International Sponsors of War" was developed by the NACP and posted on the War and Sanctions portal. All companies that cooperate with the aggressor and are included in the register of "International Sponsors of War" are included in the world's largest database, World-Check. As a reminder, after being included in the list of international war sponsors, Peninsula Petroleum Limited terminated business relations with russia, in particular servicing its tankers transporting russian oil. In addition, one of the world's largest oilfield service companies, SLB (formerly Schlumberger), announced that it would stop supplying oil and gas equipment to the russian market.
