The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), under the procedural guidance of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office, including based on materials from the full verification of the 2024 declaration conducted by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), has served a notice of suspicion for false declaration worth over UAH 5 million to the Head of the Main Directorate of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Zhytomyr region. The official is also a deputy of one of the village councils in the Zhytomyr district.
In particular, the official allegedly failed to declare:
- a residential house with a total area of 162 sq. m in the village of Zarichany, Zhytomyr region, worth approximately UAH 2.2 million, and two land plots on which it is located;
- an apartment in Zhytomyr worth more than UAH 2.2 million, where he lived with his family.
During the verification, materials were collected indicating that despite the above-mentioned real estate being registered in the name of the declarant’s mother-in-law, the beneficial owner is in fact the official himself. It was also established that the land plots on which the house is located were purchased for UAH 4,000–5,000, while their market value exceeds UAH 140,000.
In addition, during the verification, the declarant failed to confirm the sources of funds used by him and his wife to accumulate more than UAH 845,000 in cash.
At present, the NACP continues to examine the sources of approximately UAH 2.5 million used to acquire the residential house and land plots.
The official has been notified of suspicion of committing an offence under Part 1 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (declaration of false information).
