Based on materials provided by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) partially upheld a claim by a prosecutor from the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SAPO), declaring part of a flat registered to a relative of the former Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine as an unexplained asset.
The court declared 53.15% of a flat with an area of over 170 sq m, located in one of Kyiv's prestigious residential complexes, as an unexplained asset and ordered the recovery of its value — over UAH 4.4 million — to the state revenue.
During lifestyle monitoring of the official, the NACP established that in 2021, his mother-in-law acquired ownership of a flat measuring over 170 sq m valued at UAH 8.1 million. Starting in 2023, the official reported this property in his asset declarations as his family's place of residence and as rented property by his wife.
At the same time, the gathered evidence showed that the former minister and his family members had actually used the flat significantly earlier than declared.
An analysis of the income and expenditure of the official's relative demonstrated that it was partially impossible for her to purchase the flat using lawful income. In particular, her claim of having received a loan of nearly UAH 5.5 million was refuted by the evidence collected.
The lawsuit was based on materials from the NACP, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), and evidence independently obtained by SAPO, taking into account information provided by the investigative agency "Slidstvo.Info".
By decision of the HACC, over UAH 4.3 million is subject to recovery into the state revenue.
The court ruling may be appealed within 30 days from the date of the drafting of its full text.
