The Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), based on the results of lifestyle monitoring by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and on the basis of evidence obtained independently, filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to recognise as unfounded assets worth over UAH 4.2 million used by the family of a former deputy of one of the city councils of the Sumy region and to confiscate them for the state (civil forfeiture).

The assets in question include a 53.8 square metre apartment in the French Quarter residential complex in the capital, worth almost UAH 2.8 million, a parking space worth UAH 225,000, and a 2022 Toyota RAV4 worth almost UAH 1.3 million.

NACP found that the assets were purchased by people close to the official, but the deputy has the right to dispose of them.

After analysing the income and expenses of the official and his family, the Agency concluded that neither the deputy nor his relatives had the opportunity to purchase the property in question from their legal income.

The assets may be seized in favour of the state by decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court in accordance with Article 290 of the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine.
