NACP and International Anti-Corruption Academy sign a memorandum of understanding to ensure effective anti-corruption processes during the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine
The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) signed a memorandum of understanding to provide Ukraine’s officials with necessary anti-corruption tools during post-war reconstruction. IACA is an international organization and post-secondary educational institution. At present, it is comprised of 76 State Parties and 4 international organizations. The Academy is the only international organization with a mandate focused solely on fighting corruption. In particular, IACA provides anti-corruption education and training to public and private sector professionals and practitioners, as well as academics, media professionals, and civil society organizations.           The cooperation between the two institutions will focus on anti-corruption processes during the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, the exchange of experience and information between Ukrainian and international experts on the detection and prevention of corruption, and the implementation of modern educational practices and technologies in the field of corruption prevention. “The International Anti-Corruption Academy plays an important role in the implementation of anti-corruption education around the world. As the authority responsible for the development of Ukraine's anti-corruption policy, the NACP is confident that this memorandum will help to enforce the introduction of a culture of integrity among public officials, citizens, and a business environment. Only in this case Ukraine will become strong enough to win, recover, modernize and join the EU," — Head of the NACP Oleksandr Novikov explained. He added that “from the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, all anti-corruption bodies of our state continued to perform their direct functions of fighting against corruption, continuing to use their capacity for the success of Ukraine’s resistance. The Dean of IACA Thomas Stelzer said that “IACA is looking forward to supporting the National Agency on Corruption Prevention of Ukraine in strengthening its capacities to combat corruption. Efficient anti-corruption procedures will be of particular importance in the context of post-war reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. IACA is prepared to assist Ukraine in enhancing the skills of anti-corruption practitioners through training, capacity-building, and other forms of technical assistance.” Furthermore, he added that IACA facilitates the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) by offering technical assistance and capacity building to practitioners. “We assist partners in creating a zero-tolerance culture around corruption at the national level.” – Mr. Stelzer emphasized. The NACP continues to develop its network of partners for the implementation of joint projects and initiatives. Among the organizations with which the NACP already concluded memoranda of understanding are: the Ministry of Digital Transformation, State Property Fund, Central Election Commission, National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy," Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, "Clerical Hundred," "Anti-corruption Headquarters," lifecell, "CHESNO" Movement and Civic Network "OPORA."
