Full audits of declarations: NACP finds inaccurate information worth almost UAH 23 million in declarations of two local deputies

22.08.2024

Based on the results of a full audit of the declaration of a deputy of the Myrhorod City Council of Poltava Oblast, which he submitted for the year 2021, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) found false information totaling more than UAH 4.5 million.

In particular, the declarant failed to indicate or indicated inaccurate information about 17 land plots in the Myrhorod district that he owned or used.

In addition, the official failed to disclose in the declaration the vehicle he owned, the balances on bank accounts opened in his name, and information on one-time payments totaling more than UAH 1 million. The amount of each payment made to repay his financial obligation exceeded 50 subsistence minimums.

The actions of the deputy have signs of an offense under Part 1 of Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine; based on the NACP's substantiated conclusion, the National Police of Ukraine initiated criminal proceedings.

In addition, based on the results of a full audit of the declaration of a deputy of the Kropyvnytskyi City Council submitted for the year 2022, NACP has found that the declarant provided false statements totaling more than UAH 18.2 million.

Thus, in the reporting period, the declarant received reimbursable financial assistance of USD 500 thousand (equivalent to UAH 18,284,300) to an account in a foreign banking institution, without indicating information about such an obligation in section 13 of the declaration.

The deputy's actions have signs of an offense under Part 2 of Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine; based on the NACP's substantiated conclusion, the National Police of Ukraine initiated criminal proceedings.

Remarks. By part one of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved following the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.

The list of declarants regarding whom full audits have been launched, as well as the results of the audits, can be found here.
