The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), in cooperation with the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and assisted by the leadership of the National Police of Ukraine, has completed the pre-trial investigation into two former police officials of the Poltava region. The investigation was initiated, in particular, based on the results of lifestyle monitoring, through which the NACP identified a discrepancy between the value of assets acquired by the former officials and their legal income. One of them is charged with illicit enrichment and declaring false information, while the other is charged with false declaration.
Specifically, the former Deputy Chief of the Poltava Regional Police acquired assets worth over UAH 11 million between 2023 and 2025. The value of the property significantly exceeded his legal income. Some of the assets were registered in the names of third parties, but were actually used by the former official himself.
In particular, he registered a land plot with a cottage in Poltava in the name of the mother-in-law of one of his subordinates, and engaged another subordinate to purchase an apartment in a new building under the "eOselya" state mortgage program. The assets also included a Suzuki car, expensive home appliances, and other property. Additionally, the former official used a car registered to his friend.
At the same time, he did not disclose the actual extent of his wealth in his asset declarations, stating an increase in cash savings instead. He is charged with illicit enrichment and declaring false information (Art. 368-5 and Part 1 of Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The other suspect — a former head of one of the departments of the regional police — registered a land plot with a residential house in Poltava in his father's name. At the same time, the former official negotiated the purchase of the real estate, organised construction work, approved materials and expenses, and controlled payments. However, the total official income of his parents for the verified period amounted to about UAH 477 thousand, while the expenses for the purchase and renovation of the real estate exceeded their income by more than UAH 6.1 million.
The former law enforcement officer himself declared about UAH 687 thousand in income for 2023. An analysis of his expenses and existing assets revealed a deficit of legal funds exceeding UAH 2.9 million. Despite actual control over the real estate, he failed to disclose either the land plot or the house in his declarations for 2023–2025. He is charged with declaring false information (Part 1 of Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Procedural guidance in the case is provided by the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The mentioned individuals are also suspects in another criminal proceeding conducted by the SBI, which is currently pending in court.
