Anti-corruption institutions of Ukraine and the EU advocate for the speedy adoption of the State Anti-Corruption Program and the restoration of e-declaration
The draft law on the restoration of electronic declaration is awaiting consideration by the Parliament, and the draft of the State Anti-Corruption Program has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Currently, these are key issues for Ukraine on the way to victory and accession to the EU, as well as for strengthening the trust of society and international partners in the Ukrainian authorities. This was emphasized by the Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) Oleksandr Novikov during a meeting of the leadership of anti-corruption bodies of Ukraine, representatives of civil society in the field of anti-corruption and Cities of Integrity within the framework of the meeting of the Supervisory Board of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI). The meeting of the Supervisory Board was dedicated to the results of the program and was chaired by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen and the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denys Malyusyka. In addition to the need to restore electronic declaration and approval of State Anti-Corruption Program, the participants of the meeting also discussed the importance of a transparent selection process for the new Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the new Head of the National Agency of Ukraine for finding, tracing and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes (ARMA).
Oleksandr Novikov emphasized that EUACI is one of the few EU initiatives whose activities fully meet the requirements of the Paris Declaration on aid effectiveness. He thanked the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative for supporting anti-corruption processes in Ukraine and emphasized the importance of restoring all processes to prevent corruption in the state.  "We highly appreciate EUACI's contribution to the development of the Anti-Corruption Strategy and the draft of the State Anti-Corruption Program for its implementation. We also count on continued support from EUACI to implement the recommendations of the European Commission's opinion on Ukraine's application for membership in the European Union.  This applies, in particular, to the speedy restoration of the declaration of assets of public servants and the reporting of political parties on their use of funds", — Oleksandr Novikov stressed. "The EU anti-corruption initiative responded to the new challenges caused by the war and defined its activities in the field of fighting corruption, guided by four directions. This is integrity in the reconstruction of Ukraine, European integration, return of assets and support of anti-corruption institutions in order to strengthen their work", said the head of EUACI Allan Pugh Christensen.  He praised the program's partners and their employees for their considerable efforts and dedication to anti-corruption work, despite the difficult conditions of martial law.  He also highly praised the work of the NACP specialists on the preparation of the project of the State Anti-corruption Program for 2023-2025 and expressed hope for its approval by the Government of Ukraine as soon as possible.
