A prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), based on the materials of a full audit of the declaration conducted by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and an investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) to recognise as unjustified the assets of an official of the Department of the State Agency of Reclamation and Fisheries in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast.
The case concerns an apartment in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, with an area of 98.2 sq. m worth UAH 3.4 million, acquired by the declarant and his wife in December 2024. The real estate was registered under the wife's name, but the spouses hold it under joint marital property rights.
Based on the analysis of the official's family income and expenses, it was established that their lawful income did not allow them to acquire the asset at the specified value. Circumstances were also established that refute the declarant's explanations regarding the acquisition of the real estate using funds allegedly borrowed from a third party.
Given the established circumstances, SAPO filed a lawsuit with HACC to recognise the assets as unjustified and forfeit to the state budget part of the funds spent on purchasing the apartment in the amount of over UAH 2.9 million.
