Cooperation with international stakeholders and best anti-corruption practices - work of the NACP delegation in Vilnius

19.06.2024

The delegation of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) started its work at the IACC (International Anti-Corruption Conference) as part of a working trip to Vilnius (Lithuania). The NACP Head was a speaker at workshops, held a bilateral meeting and participated in an event organized by Dexis Consulting Group.

The panel "Cooperation, Not Conflict: New Tools and Partnerships to Promote Economic Stability and Development in Fragile and Conflict-Affected States" was dedicated to cooperation with international organizations, in particular the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as strategies for building close cooperation.

"International organizations provide support that strengthens the capacity of national anti-corruption institutions. Their involvement helps to scale up anti-corruption measures both at the national and international levels," emphasized the NACP Head during the discussions.

An important aspect of cooperation with international stakeholders is their support and expertise in the process of developing, adopting and implementing the best practices of international anti-corruption legislation.

On the field of the Conference, the NACP Head held a bilateral meeting with Richard Nephew, the U.S. State Department's Coordinator for Global Anti-Corruption. Among the issues discussed by the parties was, in particular, the implementation of Article 43 of the UN Convention on the Prevention of Corruption, which calls on states to cooperate in administrative and civil cases related to corruption, even if the laws of the participating countries have different terminology.

The NACP Head thanked his American colleague and the U.S. government for their support and assistance to Ukraine: "The United States has consistently and continuously demonstrated strong support for Ukraine. We appreciate the assistance in implementing practices that help make public administration in Ukraine transparent and accountable."

The final meeting of the second day of the Conference was an event organized by Dexis Consulting Group, an organization specializing in democracy building, improving access to justice, ensuring program effectiveness and enhancing the skills of public officials around the world.

As a reminder, the Head of the NACP in Vilnius also took part in the discussion of corruption risk management in the reconstruction at the meeting of the OECD Anti-Corruption Task Force.
