Over the nine months of 2026, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) processed 11,267 requests for special checks.
Based on the results of these checks, signs of false information regarding property and other declarable assets totalling UAH 1.351 billion were identified in the asset declarations of 784 candidates. Following the special checks, decisions were made to refuse appointment to office regarding 153 individuals.
As a reminder, the NACP is one of ten state bodies authorised to conduct special checks on candidates for public service positions. Special checks aim to prevent individuals who lack the required level of education, have submitted false information, or have declared assets whose value does not correspond to their legal income from performing state or local self-government functions. A separate area of the NACP’s work is monitoring the timeliness of declaration submissions by persons authorised to perform state or local self-government functions. This area is implemented in cooperation with authorised units (officers) for corruption prevention and detection, aiming to ensure proper compliance by declarants with their duty to submit asset declarations. As part of monitoring timeliness, the NACP also takes response measures against declarants who violate legal requirements.
The procedure for establishing the timeliness of declaration submissions involves several stages: first, state bodies, local self-government bodies, enterprises, and institutions verify whether declarants have fulfilled their submission obligations, and if violations are detected, they notify the NACP. Based on the received information, the National Agency analyses each case and takes response measures provided by law to hold accountable the individuals at fault. This mechanism allows for effective control over compliance with financial control legislation. Read more here.
