Head of the NACP Oleksandr Novikov and British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons discuss the ways of strengthening sanctions against Russia
Head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) Oleksandr Novikov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Ukraine Melinda Simmons, discussed the need of strengthening sanctions against the aggressor and Ukraine's accession to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).   Oleksandr Novikov stressed that the United Kingdom is the leader in imposing sanctions following the Russian invasion and thanked her for the support of Ukraine.   «From the first days of the war, the United Kingdom has shown determination to counter Russian aggression. The UK is now the leader in the number of sanctions imposed on Russia. Ukraine and all Ukrainian people are very grateful to you for your comprehensive support in this war», — remarked the Head of the NACP.   He added that the international sanctions pressure against Russia should increase day by day, as the lives of Ukrainians depend on it. Thus, he said that the NACP has already identified more than 13,000 individuals and 3,000 legal entities to impose sanctions to further seize their assets in favor of Ukraine.   Oleksandr Novikov also called on the UK to support Ukraine's strivings to become a member of  OECD as a part of its broad support of economic reforms in Ukraine.    «The support that the whole world is now showing to Ukraine is a very strong signal.  We are confident that the world will demonstrate a similar unity during the reconstruction of Ukraine. To this end, it is important to provide a solid foundation for the further economic development of our state. One of the important steps for this is that Ukraine should become a full member of the OECD, while the NACP aims to become a member of the OECD Working Group on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions», — said Oleksandr Novikov
